September 19: Phenom Penh

 Cyclo Tour / Killing Fields / S-21

It was a LONG and full day....left the ship at 8:30am; returned at noon for lunch and back on the bus a little before 2pm.  Arrived back at the ship at 6:15pm....time to clean up for the "port talk" and then dinner until almost 8:30pm!  It was a full day but one that was without many stories to tell.  The morning was a fun way to see the city as we each had our own cyclo and driver who pedaled us around the city.  We went to the royal palace complex and then rode through the old part of the city before getting back to the ship right before lunch.

Naga - the great serpent

In the afternoon we had a long drive to the Killing Fields where hundreds and hundreds of Cambodians were executed and buried in mass graves as part of the the Khmer Rouge genocide.  Then we headed to what was once a high school campus and then was turned into a torture facility.
